James Wann to Direct MORTAL KOMBAT Reboot

James Wann….GET OVER HERE….and make another MORTAL KOMBAT movie. While there have been attempts to get the movies going again we haven’t seen anything on the big screen since 1997. Even though Wann has made some great films like SAW, The Conjuring and Insidious his real credibility has been gained with the blockbuster Furious 7. I’m not a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise but they are fun popcorn movies.

The film will be a standalone reboot not connected to the previous films or the web series. Interestingly, it also doesn’t look to hold a great deal of connection to the game series, being called a “departure from the mythology.”

The movie is being written by David Callaham (The Expendables) and Oren Uziel, who wrote the short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth.

There is no confirmation of the project getting greenlit as of yet but it appears to be gaining some steam.
